HARRISBURG- Rep. Todd Stephens (R-Montgomery) today announced that Higher Rock Partners has been awarded $1 million from the state Multimodal Transportation Fund.
“This money will be used to alleviate traffic congestion at Bethlehem Pike and Stump Road,” Stephens said. “I want to thank the Commonwealth Financing Authority for approving my request for help. The money will go a long way to covering the costs of the $5.5 million project.”
An impact study determined that the roads that intersect at Stump Road and Bethlehem Pike experience heavy traffic.
The funds will be used to add a 40-foot wide, 870-foot extension of Witchwood Drive across Stump Road to a new intersection with Route 309.
The new intersection will be widened to provide a separate 12-foot wide, 275-foot long northbound lane and a 200-foot long southbound lane. The westbound approach of Stump Road and Route 309 will be widened to 11 feet to provide dual left turn lanes.
In addition, both the Route 309 and the Stump Road intersections will be regulated with new traffic signals.
