HARRISBURG – State Rep. Todd Stephens (R-Montgomery) today announced the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) has awarded funding to Eastern Center for Arts and Technology and North Montco Technical Career Center to purchased needed training equipment.
Eastern Center for Arts and Technology was awarded $49,529 and North Montco Technical Career Center was awarded $48,111. The schools are two of 32 career and technical centers and two school districts that were awarded a total of nearly $1.2 million in grants across the Commonwealth.
“As more students pursue career training through our career and technical schools rather than attend a four-year college or university, our career and technical schools strive to deliver the most up-to-date training on modern equipment. This funding will help these schools deliver the best possible education to their students.”
Specifically, the funds will be used to purchase equipment aligned with the needs of local employers for use in PDE-approved career and technical education programs and to provide hands-on training to students in those programs.
Under the program, the maximum grant is $50,000 and must be matched dollar-for-dollar from a local source, which could include local school funds or contributions from business and industry partners.
There are more than 80 career and technical centers in Pennsylvania that offer a combination of classes and hands-on learning to thousands of students in PDE-approved programs.
