BLUE BELL –
|Education, employment and benefit services to be available
Working to ensure veterans have the support and services they need, area lawmakers are joining together to host a Veterans Expo on Monday, Nov. 20, from 9 a.m. to noon in College Hall at Montgomery County Community College.
The event is jointly hosted by Congressman Patrick Meehan (R-PA) and state Reps. Kate Harper (R-Montgomery), Tom Murt (R-Montgomery/Philadelphia) and Todd Stephens (R-Montgomery).
“The expo will offer valuable information for veterans of all ages, but it is especially geared toward the men and women who have recently returned from service and are working to transition back to civilian life,” Harper said. “We want to help make that transition easier by bringing veterans together with a number of education and employment resources in one convenient location. Of course, veterans of any age are encouraged to come and participate in this informative event.”
Nearly three dozen organizations have registered to participate in the expo, including several area universities; U.S. Small Business Administration; VA Medical Center; home care organizations; the Montgomery County Treasurer, Recorder of Deeds and Veterans Affairs offices; and more. For a full list of confirmed exhibitors, visit www.KateHarper.net
The Montgomery County Recorder of Deeds also will be on site to issue ID cards to Montgomery County Veterans (a DD214 and photo ID are required for ID card issuance).
Admission is free, and light refreshments will be served.
