HARRISBURG—Rep. Todd Stephens (R-Montgomery) will visit the Malvern School of Horsham, 101 Lower State Road, on Thursday, Oct. 13, at 10 a.m., to read the book “The Mouse Who Went Surfing Alone,” which was written by his former colleague Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman.

Stephens will be reading the book to two Pre-K classes as a way to encourage literacy and online safety.

“This will give me a chance to encourage reading to children who are just beginning to appreciate the joy of storytelling while also teaching them a valuable lesson,” Stephens said. “What makes this even more special is I will be reading a book written by my friend Risa Ferman.”

Before joining the Legislature, Stephens served as an Assistant District Attorney in Montgomery County.

Ferman’s book offers lessons to children about being aware of the dangers of “surfing” online through the story of a mouse who ignores his parents’ advice, hits the beach to surf, and must dodge various predators before returning home safely.
