Stephens Issues Statement on Marcellus Shale Impact Fee Legislation
HARRISBURG – Rep. Todd Stephens (R-Montgomery) issued this statement following Thursday’s passage of House Bill 1950, which would impose an impact fee and address a number of issues related to natural gas drilling in the Marcellus/Utica shales:

"While it’s far from perfect, House Bill 1950 puts in place important environmental protections; provides funding for open space, parks and trails; and ensures the natural gas industry is accountable for any financial impact in and around drilling communities.

“For the first time we have a real chance at enacting legislation that holds the industry accountable for its impact on the Commonwealth.”
