Stephens, Murt Seeks Korean Veterans for Honor Ceremony
6/4/2013

HARRISBURG -- State Reps. Todd Stephens (R-Montgomery) and Tom Murt (R-Montgomery/Philadelphia) are seeking Korean War veterans to recognize them for their efforts.  In appreciation for the sacrifices they made during their service to our country, Stephens and Murt will participate in a ceremony to recognize all Korean War veterans from the 151st and 152nd Legislative Districts who served in the conflict.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the Korean American Armistice.  Stephens, Murt and the Republic of Korea would like to express their gratitude to the American soldiers who served in the Korean War.

“More than 1.7 million Americans served and more than 36,000 died during the Korean conflict, which is often called ‘the Forgotten War,’” Stephens said. “It is now time for us to show those veterans that we will never forget their sacrifice.”

“This is the least we can do for those who sacrificed so much for freedom,” Murt said.

Stephens and Murt will also honor those who fought in the Korean War at a special event in September 2013, where the Korean Ambassador will present medals to veterans of the conflict.

Stephens and Murt ask all Korean War veterans who would like to be honored at this event to contact Stephens’ office at 215-368-5165. Veterans will be asked to submit their name, rank, branch of service, time of service, current address and telephone number.

Each veteran will be presented with a certificate and medal in honor for his or her service. Widows and widowers of Korean War veterans are also welcome to participate in the ceremony.
