Murt, Stephens to Host Tourette Syndrome Information Night in Upper Dublin
10/18/2013
HARRISBURG-- Reps. Tom Murt (R-Montgomery/Philadelphia) and Todd Stephens (R-Montgomery) will host an informational seminar for families dealing with Tourette Syndrome and community members who are interested in learning more about the disorder. Murt and Stephens will be joined by Reps. Madeleine Dean (D-Montgomery) and Mary Jo Daley (D-Montgomery), as well as representatives from the PA Tourette Syndrome Alliance Inc.

The event will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 30, at 7 p.m., in the Upper Dublin Township Building, 801 Loch Alsh Ave. in Fort Washington.

Tourette Syndrome is a neurological disorder that is characterized by tics – involuntary, rapid, sudden movements or vocalizations that occur repeatedly in the same way.

“This can make it difficult for those dealing with the illness to live a normal life,” Murt said. “Many families believe they are alone and feel isolated, but there is help.”

“To better help families face this challenge, we have gathered some of the area’s authorities on this disorder, including physicians, parents and volunteers, who will share the latest information on the illness and discuss services available to those helping loved ones overcome the obstacles created by Tourette Syndrome,” Stephens said.

The meeting is free and open to the public. For more information contact Rep. Murt’s office at 215-674-3755 or Rep. Stephens’ office at 215-368-5165
