Stephens to Host Educational Meeting on Child Protection Laws
3/6/2015
HARRISBURG--Rep. Todd Stephens (R-Montgomery) invites anyone who volunteers or works with children to an educational meeting to learn about Pennsylvania’s new child protection laws. The event will take place on March 10 at 7 p.m. at the Horsham Township Library, 435 Babylon Road in Horsham.

With the enactment of these laws, many of Pennsylvania’s volunteers and workers are now required to obtain a criminal background check and child abuse clearance before working with children and report suspected child abuse to the proper authorities to avoid facing criminal prosecution.

To ensure organizations and businesses fully understand these new laws, Stephens has arranged a meeting where the Department of Human Services will explain the new changes and provide recommendations on how to best comply with them.

“With the enactment of Pennsylvania’s new child protection laws it is critical our local businesses and organizations understand their obligations and responsibilities,” Stephens said. “My Child Protection Seminar will help individuals who volunteer and work with children learn how to better protect children and themselves.”

To RSVP for the meeting, please contact Tim Ward in Stephens’ District Office by telephone at 215-368-5165 or by email at Tward@pahousegop.com.
