Murt, Stephens to Unveil Memorial for Fallen Vietnam Veteran
HARRISBURG—Reps. Thomas Murt (R-Montgomery/Philadelphia) and Todd Stephens (R-Montgomery) will host a road dedication to honor a local veteran who gave his life serving during the Vietnam War.

On Sunday, Sept. 11, at 1 p.m., Murt and Stephens will unveil a new sign designating a portion of County Line Road in honor of SP4 Ronald C. Smith. The public is invited to attend the event. The event will be held rain or shine.

The ceremony will take place at the Blair Mill Elementary School, 109 Bender Road in Hatboro.

Smith was deployed to Vietnam on Dec. 6, 1967, at the age of 23. He was an armor reconnaissance specialist. While valiantly serving his country, he was killed on April 14, 1968, in the Quang Ngai Province of South Vietnam.

“I don’t believe we have ever properly recognized SP4 Ronald C. Smith, but we will correct that omission this week,” Murt said. “It’s important that we remember all the men and women from this community who gave their lives for our country.”
